Describe a product. The classifier works through the Harmonized Tariff Schedule of the United States one level at a time,
applying the General Rules of Interpretation in order, and asks for any fact that decides the next split. Every result is
reviewed by a licensed customs broker before it is used on an entry.
GRI 1 first. At every level the terms of the headings and the section and chapter notes decide, where they can. The later rules are used only when GRI 1 does not settle it, and in order.
Only real lines. Each choice is one of the lines printed at that level of the current HTS revision, so a number that does not exist can never be proposed.
Questions, not guesses. When the next split turns on a fact you have not given (material, use, capacity), you are asked.
Broker review. A result is a draft until the licensed customs broker approves it or replaces it with the correct line.

Results are drafts for reference until the licensed customs broker approves them. They are not binding rulings; a binding
ruling comes only from U.S. Customs and Border Protection (19 CFR Part 177). Duty figures are estimates and leave out
anything flagged as not computed. See the Privacy page.
